Statement of Responsibility & Disclaimer

DoonThaBrae Events organisers shall not be held liable in any way for any loss, damage or accidents that may occur during the event. Riders are aware that cycling is potentially dangerous.

Rider equipment:

• Riders must wear a certified helmet (xc or full face) at all times, including transfer sections. Riders found not wearing a helmet may be disqualified.
• Gloves and knee, elbow and back protection are strongly recommended.
• Bikes must be in good working order with firm brakes and good pad condition; mandatory bar plugs; headset and suspension in good working order.
• Each competitor must be completely self-sufficient. There will may not be no food and water out on the course; food and drink is available in the event village.
• Electric Mountain Bikes must be EPAC compliant, maximum power output of 250 watts and motor should not propel bike more than 15.5mph.

Course:

• Riders must ride responsibly, taking care of pedestrians, other riders and vehicles. 
• The course will be marked with signs and tape.  Where a course is double taped (both sides of the trail line) Riders must ride between the tape.  Anything else is placed as a guideline as to the direction of the course. 
• Any Rider caught riding out with transition (signed trails) will be disqualified immediately.
• If a Rider exits the timed stage course, he/she must re-enter at the same point and, if altered, restore the tape as he/she found it.
• It is the Rider’s responsibility to ensure a correct roll in and out from the timed stages. Please ensure you are totally certain of how the timing dibber works BEFORE you set off. Missed/early dibs cannot be rectified

Rider Etiquette:

• Riders must follow marshal instructions (and may be disqualified for not doing so)
• Riders will be set off at 30 secs intervals on Race Day. Please let faster riders past.  If you are the faster rider give a clear shout “RIDER” that you are approaching.  If you are the slower rider, please move to the side allowing a clear line for the passing rider.
• If you come across an injured rider, please stop to help them if necessary or let the next marshal know about it.
  Chaperoned youth riders will be set off as a group, well ahead of the rest of the competitors. 
• Youth Riders will be  given priority over other competitors and will be asked to ride the downhill section one after the other with the youth rider(s).

Photography/Videography

• By entering and by your presence here, you consent to be photographed, filmed and/or otherwise recorded. Your entry constitutes your consent to such photography, filming and/or recording and to any use, in any and all media.

Chaperones

• Youth riders aged from 9 to 12 years old (on the day of the race) MUST be accompanied during the race by a responsible chaperone aged 18 years or over.
• The responsible chaperone must either be a parent or a guardian of the youth rider or have express written permission from the guardian or parent to be a chaperone.
• A chaperone may have responsibility for a maximum of two youth riders.
• A chaperone has a responsibility of duty and care for the youth rider(s) for whom he or she is acting as a chaperone, including following all rules within this statement of responsibility and registering the youth riders and checking them back in at the end of the event.
• The chaperone must accompany and remain in constant contact with the youth riders they have responsibility for during the entire event.
• In particular in order to fully discharge their responsibilities, a chaperone is not allowed to race during the Enduro and during the downhill sections of the event the chaperone must ride behind and within reasonable contact distance of the youth rider(s) for whom they have responsibility.
• If there is any reason that a youth racer needs to withdraw from the event (illness, injury, fatigue, etc.) the chaperone must advise the nearest marshall (or otherwise call the advised emergency contact number) and accompany the youth back to the event village or with medical assistance if that proves necessary.
• If a chaperone is accompanying two youth riders and it becomes necessary for one to withdraw, the chaerone will need to withdraw; they will also withdraw the second rider and ensure they are also accompanied safely back to the event village.
• It is not acceptable to pass responsibility for a youth to chaperone another youth on the hill, unless there absolutely no reasonable alternative eg an emergency situation.
